Not Today
There are a lot of days to praise those doing the right things in this election cycle, and to condemn the actions of those who run dishonorable campaigns. September 11th is not one of those days. I couldn’t stand watching the replays on TV this morning of it all-especially when too many of the ringleaders of the enemy are still at large. That fact, seven years out, makes me both angry and sad.
I covered 9-11 live on the radio for three hours that morning. The producer kept the recording for a while, but I never went back and listened to it. Describing the towers falling on the air for those who were in their cars and unable to see it for themselves, and not letting my emotions get the best of me, was one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Getting the wire service bulletins of CAP flights being flown over American soil was a feeling I will never forget. This is indeed a day to simply remember what we lost, and what we yet have to do.
